Configuring the Legend

The legend maps each colour swatch to a wind speed bin. Open Settings on the plot toolbar and expand the Legend section to adjust it.

Moving the Legend

Grab the drag handle to the left of the legend and drag it anywhere on the plot. As you drag, the four corner targets appear as small markers, one in each corner of the plot. The target you're closest to lights up in blue to show where the legend will snap when you release.

Release near a corner (within about 60px) to snap the legend flush against it. Release anywhere else to drop the legend at that exact spot without snapping.

Reset Position

Click Reset next to Position in the Legend settings to return the legend to its default top-right spot. The button is disabled when the legend is already at the default position.

Title Alignment

The legend title aligns itself automatically based on which side of the plot the legend sits on, so it always reads naturally from the swatches:

  • In a right corner the title is right-aligned to the right edge of the legend.
  • In a left corner the title flips to left-aligned.

You don't set this yourself; it follows the legend's position as you drag it between corners.

Orientation

Choose how the legend items are laid out:

  • Vertical stacks items top to bottom, reading from the highest bin down.
  • Horizontal places items in a single row, reading from the lowest bin up.

Label Size

Sets the font size of the bin labels, from 8 to 20px.

Spacing

Two options control how tightly the legend items are packed:

  • Row spacing (vertical) or Item spacing (horizontal) is the gap between one legend entry and the next, from 0 to 40px. The label changes name with the orientation.
  • Label gap is the gap between each colour swatch and its label text, from 0 to 30px.

Increase these for a more airy legend, or reduce them to keep a compact legend that takes up less of the plot.
